How can I back up Axigen mail on Windows?
Install Axigen Backup Tool and add your Axigen address and password. Tick the folders, check a preview, choose a file format and press save. The server name and port fill in for you.
Does Axigen have a built-in export for one mailbox?
Users in an Axigen community thread report no built-in way to export one mailbox from the server, and a local Outlook sync was the workaround offered. Axigen Backup Tool reads that mailbox over IMAP and saves it to files.
How do Axigen admins back up a server?
The Axigen server backup guide lists a working directory copy, an FTP backup service and FUSE access. All of them need server access, so a mailbox owner on a hosting plan uses an IMAP login instead.
What does free Axigen Backup Tool demo include?
The demo connects to your Axigen account, shows every folder and unlocks the same preview, filter and header views as the paid edition. It saves 10 emails per folder, a sample you can open and check.
Which port and security type should I use?
Axigen uses port 993 for secure IMAP and port 143 for plain IMAP, as the Axigen default ports list shows. Port 993 with SSL suits most hosts.
Why does Axigen show a password error with the right password?
The login needs the full email address and not the short name. IMAP can also be switched off on your plan. Fix the username, ask your host to enable IMAP and sign in again.
What if the server address is wrong?
Type the IMAP server and port by hand in the account window. Your host can give you both values.
Can Axigen mail go straight into Outlook?
Yes. Save a PST file and open it in Outlook, or send the mail to a live Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account.
Can I save many Axigen folders at once?
Yes. Tick as many folders as you like and save the full tree in one session.
Which file formats can I save to?
Eight formats are available: PST, MBOX, EML, MSG, PDF, HTML, CSV and TXT. Contacts go out as vCard.
Will my folder order and dates survive?
Yes. Folder names, nesting and original message dates are kept in your output.
Can I back up only some of the mail?
Yes. Set a date range, or filter on sender, subject and attachments, and only those messages are saved.
Do Axigen attachments come along?
Yes. Photos, PDFs and documents stay attached to their emails and can also be saved on their own. For address lists alone, use Email Address Extractor Software.
Can I back up contacts too?
Yes. Contacts in your Axigen account download to your PC next to your mail. Calendar entries are not included.
Can I move Axigen mail to Gmail or Microsoft 365?
Yes. Set a live account as the destination and Axigen mail transfers to Gmail, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or any IMAP server, as Export Axigen emails to Gmail describes.
Can one session cover several Axigen mailboxes?
Yes. Load a CSV list and queue every mailbox in one session. Every mailbox needs its own password in the list.
Does mailbox size matter?
Not in the full version. A large mailbox takes longer because the server sets download speed. An interrupted backup resumes where it stopped.
Does Axigen Backup Tool schedule backups?
No. Backups start when you press the button and stop when you close the program. The tool has no timer, no service in the background and no new-mail-only option, so a repeat backup saves the mailbox afresh.
Is any mail routed through Corbett?
No. Your PC logs in to the Axigen host and saves files to a local drive. Corbett never receives a message.
Is it safe to back up my Axigen mailbox?
Yes. Axigen Backup Tool reads your mailbox without writing to it, so the server copy stays as it was. VirusTotal scans of the installer come back clean.
Does Axigen Backup Tool work on macOS or Linux?
No. The installer targets Windows only, covering Windows 11 down to 7 and Windows Server 2025 down to 2008.
How many computers can I install Axigen Backup Tool on?
One licence covers up to 5 machines. Lifetime licence has no yearly fee.
