Convert Gmail to PST with Outlook
This is the free route and it needs classic Outlook on Windows.
- In Outlook, go to File, then Add Account, enter your Gmail address, then sign in through the Google prompt that appears. On an older setup that will not sign in, create a Gmail app password and use that.
- Let Outlook fully sync, which can take a while for a large mailbox. Wait until the folders stop filling.
- Go to File, then Open & Export, then Import/Export.
- Choose Export to a file, then Outlook Data File (.pst).
- Select the labels you want, leaving All Mail unticked to avoid duplicates, choose a location, then Finish.
Convert Gmail to PST with Google Takeout
